  Lesson Guidelines
Lesson length is approximately one full hour (more or less) depending on what it takes to accomplish session goals.
Age Limit is seven years old. (No exceptions!)
Instruction is offered from Beginner to Advanced Levels in Centered Riding, Natural Horsemanship, Balance-seat, Dressage, Hunt-seat and Stock-seat.
Please arrive promptly for your lesson. If you are scheduled to prepare your horse/pony, please arrive at least an hour before your scheduled lesson time to do so.
Lessons are based at Hanna House Bed and Breakfast, which includes Outdoor Arena with jumps, Round-Pen and miles of Trails.
All forms are required to be completed prior to starting your lesson program.
A strict 24-hour cancellation policy is enforced. No shows or last minute cancellations will be billed and there are no refunds. Make-up lessons can be scheduled.
All students are required to learn or review proper grooming, groundwork, leading and tacking-up prior to riding sessions and are part of your lesson time.
Helmets are required and proper boots and riding apparel are highly recommended. Your turnout and that of your horse should reflect your commitment to excellence.
Please communicate any special skills you would like to focus on. If your request falls within your current level of ability, we will focus your lessons in the direction needed to accomplish your goals.
Two lessons per week are highly recommended to achieve significant progress and there will be times when students are required to participate in Group lessons for the experience. (Especially if they will be showing.)
You are welcome to bring “spectators” for your lesson, but please advise them in advance that they need to observe quietly. Any distractions – for you or your horse will only impede your progress. Parents are asked to refrain from asking questions, making suggestions, or taking photographs during the lesson. These things should be done once the lesson is completed. Parents who disregard these requests will be asked to leave. In addition, if you feel your child may be less distracted without you watching, you are welcome to excuse yourself from the arena area.
When schools are canceled due to inclement weather and road conditions, please call for program status.
Your commitment to taking the time to learn quality horsemanship and having fun is greatly appreciated
NOTICE: Horseback riding is a physical sport, which requires some athletic ability and concentration. Our riding lessons and student trail rides require the rider to be in control of the animal, understand and follow verbal instructions (in English) and be able to ride in balance while physically withstanding the normal bouncing and jostling that occurs on a moving horse. People with physical, mental, and emotional disabilities are urged to carefully consider the inherent danger before participating. We reserve the right to withhold riding privileges. We strongly recommend that pregnant women not ride.
